Trans Youth Health

According to the Canadian Trans Youth Health Survey, which is a comprehensive study conducted to assess the health of trans youth in Canada, almost 50% of these youths have missed out on the physical healthcare services they needed over the past 12 months. The survey also revealed that more than 70% of these youths have not received adequate mental health services. This is an alarming situation as it indicates a significant gap in providing healthcare services for this vulnerable group.

The study found that trans youths face various barriers while accessing healthcare services, including discrimination and stigma from healthcare providers. These factors often lead to reduced trust in seeking medical care and may even prevent them from accessing necessary care altogether. As a result, these individuals are at higher risk of experiencing adverse health outcomes and poor quality of life. The findings from this study highlight the need for increased attention towards meeting the specific healthcare needs of trans youth.
