Elder Help Peel is an excellent setting that thus far has allowed us to excel in areas such as effective communication, program development for seniors, confidence building, and so much more. We work collaboratively to achieve our daily goals. Elder Help Peel gives us the opportunity to improve public speaking, build excellent rapport, enhance our interpersonal skills, follow proper netiquette, and has improved our organizational skills, and ability to multitask. We successfully meet strict deadlines almost daily, and as the days go by we become more and more independent. We are able to attend workshops, interviews, and presentations, all of which have made us feel very included and a part of the Elder Help Peel family. We have both become more confident in speaking to others and stepping out of our comfort zones because of the daily tasks and responsibilities practicum students have at Elder Help Peel.

 

Furthermore, the skills that we have acquired while at Elder Help Peel are very essential to meeting the objectives of our practicum and what is required and expected of Social Service Worker students. We are confident in all that we have learned, and are ready to transfer these skills as we transition into the Social Service Worker profession. Overall our experiences at Elder Help Peel have been incredible, and the fact that it is in-person makes it all the much better!
